Time to Listen Workshop

Whilst it is appreciated that some Club Welfare Officers will be trained and experienced in child protection issues, the Time to Listen programme provides the opportunity to consider the roles and responsibilities of Club Welfare Officers and the action to be taken should any incident occur. It is a requirement of the workshop that delegates must have attended the Safeguarding and Protecting Children Workshop already.

The Time to Listen workshop will:

  • Describe those elements of legislation and government guidance, which are relevant to the CWO role in safeguarding children’s welfare.
  • Define the specific roles and responsibilities of statutory agencies (Police, Children’s Social Care Services and the National Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Children) and Local Safeguarding Children Boards
  • Show CWOs how they will relate to statutory agencies in individual cases of child abuse and poor practice.
  • Clearly define the role and responsibilities of the Club Welfare Officer and it’s relationship to National Child Protection Officers
  • Describe how the role of the CWO will work in practice.
