Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy

Children in Golf (CiG) is a partnership of Governing Bodies and organisations of Golf throughout Great Britain and Ireland . Together each organisation has committed to work in partnership to ensure that the sport of golf is one within which children and young people involved can thrive and flourish in a safe environment.

Children in Golf Strategy Group are committed to ensuring that all children, young people and vulnerable people have a fun, safe and positive experience when playing golf.

It recognises its responsibility to safeguard children's and young people's welfare by protecting them from poor practice, abuse and bullying.

All clubs, counties and organisations that provide opportunities for young golfers, should do so to the highest possible standards, and the policies and procedures of Children in Golf are recommended to everyone, whether paid or unpaid. Everyone has a responsibility. For example: staff; volunteers; members; PGA professionals; coaches; referees; clubs and counties.

The policy and Guidelines set out a framework to fulfil Golf's commitment to good practice and the protection of children and young people in its care within the game.

The CIG Guidelines also contain a suggested club safeguarding and child protection policy template. See section 7 appendix 4 for a copy of the template.
