For Parents
To be informed of updates please sign up for our occasional news email.
If you have concerns about the way in which an adult within the club is behaving towards your own child or other children, whether they are a coach, volunteer, member of staff or simply a member of the club, it is important that you speak with someone about your concerns, however small.
You should speak with the Club Welfare Officer if your club has one, or alternatively the Junior Organiser or Club Secretary/Manager, expressing your concerns and asking them to consider appropriate action. If you do not feel able to speak to someone within the club, then you could raise your concerns with the Lead Child Protection Officer of the National Governing Body, whose details can be found in Section 8 of the downloadable Guidelines on this site, or page 90 of the hardcopy version. Please do not be deterred from doing so, even if you consider your concern to be small.
Alternatively, the NSPCC Helpline is a confidential and anonymous line which you may call for advice and support: 0808 800 5000. NSPCC Helpline web page.
The Police or your local Child Social Care department should also be consulted in cases of alleged abuse or serious poor practice. Your club's junior handbook should contain their contact details.
The panel below contains an index of relevant sections and chapters particularly useful for parents.
We suggest that you download or order the Guidelines first then refer to this page for contents of particular interest.
